2018 Counselors & Staff
Maria Delgado |
Maria Delgado
Maria is
an alumna of Catawba College. She graduated as a member of the class of
2018 with a Biology major and a Chemistry minor. Maria was given the
opportunity to be a counselor for the 2017 Summit, and she loved being part of
such a great program. She enjoyed being able to talk to the students about her
educational experiences as a biology major as well as engage with them while
they participated in the activities. Some fun facts about Maria are that she
plays soccer and that she is the oldest sibling in her family.

Eleanor King
Eleanor is an Environment & Sustainability major
graduating in 2020. She has two concentrations, Natural Resource Management and
Sustainable Planning & Leadership, in addition to her Political Science
minor. Eleanor’s interest in the environment “stems from firsthand experience
of water quality issues, human-animal conflict, and other issues in both
metropolitan and rural areas.” Eleanor also loves being able to use photography
to highlight environmental concepts, and she has recently started a website and
blog, awildconservationist.com, dedicated to those concepts and more.

Taylor Marshall
Taylor is a member of the class of 2021 at Catawba
College. She is majoring in Business Administration with a focus in Entrepreneurship.
She is excited to be a part of the Summit so that she can meet new people,
learn more about the environment, and know about the different ways in which
she can help protect the environment. Some fun facts about Taylor include that
she loves to draw, she is an aspiring photographer, and her favorite cartoon is
Steven Universe!

Shane McCormick
Shane is a member of the
class of 2020 at Catawba College. He is majoring in Environmental Education and
minoring in Biology. Shane is excited to work at the Summit because he loves
the environment and enjoys teaching others, so this is a great opportunity to
combine both interests. Some of Shane’s fun facts that he would like to share
are that slugs have four noses, moray eels have two sets of jaws, and the planet
is precious and what we do to it matters!

Serena Musselwhite
Serena is a senior at Catawba College; she will
graduate December 2018. She is majoring in Environment and Sustainability with
a concentration in Natural Resource Management. When asked why she wants to
work at the Summit, Serena responded: “I am excited to help facilitate interest
in the environment for high school students as well as helping create critical
thinking skills.” Her other interests include working with wildlife and natural
resources as well as educating the public!
Chance Ratliff |
Chance Ratliff
Chance is a member of the class of 2022 at Catawba College. He is pursuing a double major in Political Science and Natural Resource Management. “I am so excited to be a part of the Summit because it is where I found my love and passion of the environment four years ago! It inspired me to work towards a more sustainable future for everyone,” Chance says about his excitement for the Summit. Some fun facts about him are that Chance loves volleyball, hiking, and kayaking!

Matthew C. Rodriguez
Matthew is a
member of the class of 2020 at Catawba College. He is an Environment and
Sustainability Major with Concentrations in Natural Resource Management and
Environmental Education. When asked why he is interested in the environment,
Matthew responded, “I merely found the path that my heart laid out for me and I
followed it to find my passion for the environment and the continuation of the
earth.” Matthew enjoys hiking, birding, and is becoming interested in
gardening!

Karina Trujillo
Karina Trujillo is a member
of Catawba College’s class of 2020. She is majoring in Business Administration
with a concentration in Accounting and Communications. Karina is looking
forward to working at this year’s Summit because she enjoys working with the
students and learning more about the environment we live in. A fun fact about
Karina is that she loves chicken wings!
