When I went to interview the focus group They Paved Paradise and Put Up a Parking Lot, Dr. Fish was discussing the score for their song. Dr. Fish's focus group intended to add elements of Mei Lander's ukulele (seen in picture with ukulele).

Robin Emmons Speaks to Open Environmental Summit

Robin Emmons, Founder and Executive Director of  Sow Much Good  By Payton Coleman & Alia Dahlan On the first day of the National Environmental Summit 2014 , Robin Emmons spoke to around 50 excited campers on Catawba College campus.  After an introduction from President Brien Lewis and Dr. John Wear, the founder and executive director of Sow Much Good spoke about the start and success of her non-profit organization.  Her journey began when she realized that the homeless condition of her brother was detrimental to his health and well-being. After he was arrested for having a schizophrenic episode in public, Emmons gained guardianship of him and enrolled him in a mental health institute. Fried Up - You Really Can Eat Kudzu

By Lila Welsh When life gives you kudzu, fry it! The invasive species group has been trying some new ways to get rid of an invasive species. Kudzu is an invasive species. An invasive species is one that is introduced into an area and has no natural predators and is a generalized species, which means it can live in all kinds of environments. It seems nowadays in North Carolina that kudzu can be found in every forest. The kids in the invasive species group have found a way to help control the invasive kudzu. Eat it! The invasive plant is delicious when fried and is an innovative way to control a problem plant. The class is also thinking of preparing other kudzu dishes for the final festival such as kudzu salsa, kudzu quiche, and even a tenderloin with a kudzu sauce!
